Cristal Jam is a blind-friendly, audio oriented game, made by Octoblind university group for No Video Jam (itch.io game jam).

Walk through deserts, woods and mazes to collect crystal gems around the map, each gem contains a part of a lofi song - find all of them to complete the song and relax to the beat. Walls can block your way.

Gameplay

In the video above, I show the process of collecting one of the Lo-Fi crystals.

Use headphones to better experience (and to realize the spatial sounds)
This game jam was maybe the most challenging, and awesome to participate.

I think making a game for blind people is the most effective way to realize the importance of game feedbacks...

The biggest challenge was "how to show to blind people the position of the walls and obstacles". We planned to do a "echo location system" but we did not achieve the expecting results, let's put in this way haha.

Despite that, I really would like to remake this one, with the same idea, but with a lot of new feedbacks, without bugs, and really describe the scenario better with more sounds.
Also, I made the 100% original game music, you can hear it above.

I made the composition thinking about the possibility of separation into parts, so that we could collect parts of the song to complete it at the end of the game.
